Nairobi, 16th October 2015- The African Media Initiative has announced the agenda of the 7th edition of its flagship programme, the African Media Leaders Forum (AMLF), along with a redoubtable list of thought leaders who will serve on its various panels. The list includes young techies who are      doing amazing things with digital tools, social entrepreneurs, and a new breed of political leaders who will share their ideas and experie     nces.

The Forum will host more than 30 of these distinguished panelists and speakers, who will lead delegates in discussions around the theme, ‘Shaping Development Conversations in Africa- The Role of the Media in the Digital Environment.

AMLF 2015 will focus on technological innovations that are having an impact on media operations as well as development on the continent. A session dubbed “Making Technology Work for People” will showcase successful examples of individuals and organizations using technology to solve problems. The session will cover drone journalism in Africa, the use of mobile technology in advancing information delivery, as well as how media content can be shared more effectively through the internet.

“We are very excited to bring together such a distinguished line-up of speakers who are specialists in their own fields. We hope that they will generate a robust debate that will propel us towards identifying real solutions to the many challenges facing African Media today, ” said AMI’s senior  advisor, Wangethi Mwangi.

Dr Roukaya Kasenally, AMI’s senior advisor on media development said, “the 2015 AMLF will offer participants a range of programme innovations that include plenary only sessions, a media exhibition space, and the premier edition of the Zimeo awards for excellence in journalism.”

AMLF 2015 will take place in Johannesburg South Africa, from 11-13 November 2015, and will include pre-forum capacity building workshops for media managers on innovative business models, and for reporters, on other themes..
