The African Story Challenge (TASC) was a million programme of reporting grants to encourage innovative, multi-media storytelling that aims to improve the health and prosperity of Africans.
The African Story Challenge ran as a pan-African project to challenge the media to expand coverage of fundamental issues that matter to Africans. The goal was to contribute to the building of a strong media sector able to deliver content that matters to the African public.
During a two-year run (March 2013-March 2015), the project awarded 103 grants worth more than $500,000 to African journalists, resulting in nearly 300 in-depth and innovative stories circulated in major media across the continent. A showcase of some of the stories developed around the themes of Agriculture, Health, Business and Technology can be found on the African Story Challenge Website.
